Chapter 2 - Requirements to Use the System 



 
  1. COMPUTER - The course preparer, and college, graduate, and Committee on Courses
    approvers must have a PC, at least a 450 MhZ Pentium III, that is loaded with Windows 98,
    2000, or XP and has 128 MB RAM, a 10 GB hard drive, and a network interface card. Call
    x2-3555 (Microcomputing Support) to have CRAMS installed on this computer.
  2. CRAMS INSTALLATION - Call the Help Desk, x2-3555, to have CRAMS installed on your
    PC. There is no charge if the installation can take place over the network.
  3. UCR NET ID and password - The preparer/approver must have a UCR Net ID (VMS
    username) and password. (i.e., the same username and password that is used with the
    campus email system).
    1. To look up your UCR Net ID or to apply for a UCR Net ID and password,go to
      http://www.cnc.ucr.edu/esai/index.php?content=ucrnetid.html.
    2. If you do not know your password, contact your department's Enterprise
      DirectoryAdministrator. For a list of Enterprise Directory Administrators, go to
      http://eacs.ucr.edu/eacs/EACS_REPORT_v2.ucrtel_transactor_list
  4. Adobe Reader - You must have Adobe Reader on your PC to view user guides and
    forms.Go tohttp://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.htmlto download
    for free.
  5. ACCESS TO CRAMS (FOR THE FOLLOWING):

    PREPARERS
    - A Superuser from your college, school, or division gives access to
    CRAMS. When you have obtained a UCR Net ID (see above), contact the appropriate
    Superuser (see Chapter 3) to obtain access to the system. Double-click the CRAMS icon
    on your desktop and enter your UCR Net ID and password.

    FACULTY APPROVERS
    - A Superuser from your college, the Graduate Division, or the
    Committee on Courses gives access to the system. Once you have obtained a UCR Net
    ID (see above), contact the appropriate Superuser (see Chapter 3) to obtain access to
    the system. Go to http://crams.ucr.edu/crams/approver.login. Enter your UCR Net ID and
    password.

    CAMPUS USERS
    - Go to http://crams.ucr.edu/crams/courses.search. You can search
    for any course in CRAMS. You will not be able to change fields.
